Elimination of Improper Shutdowns

Historically, servers and personal computers have had to be shut down properly; otherwise, data may be lost and/or corrupted and the server/computer would take longer, often significantly longer, to reboot. If a Nitix-powered server is unexpectedly shut down, it will restart in its normal boot time, without losing or corrupting any data. Nitix-powered servers have an integrated advanced journaling file system that eliminates "improper shutdowns".

A Compact Operating System

For the past several years, traditional operating systems have grown (or bloated) dramatically. Fully deployed, some are now larger than 2000 megabytes. Including all its features, functionality, and unique and patent-pending technologies, today's Nitix operating system is approximately 20-megabytes.

Nitix's compact size allows the operating system to be run from solid-state, non-volatile flash memory or from read-only media, such as a CD-ROM. This facilitates the physical separation of the operating system from the file system (or data), on a Nitix-powered server.

idb Technology for Unattended, Automatic Back Ups

On Nitix-powered servers, idb technology continuously backs up changes to all the data on the server, the server configuration files and the Nitix operating system itself.
